Michael Menconi owns Aqua Vida Custom Pools and is its lead technician. Call or text and you reach him directly. He is the one who shows up to open the pool, service the heater, or figure out what is going wrong.
He works on pools across the Fox Valley, from Geneva and St. Charles to Batavia, Elgin, Aurora and the towns between them.

Straight answers about your pool
Some visits are routine: an opening in April, a closing in October, a weekly stop to keep the water right. Others start with a heater that will not fire or a salt cell reading low. Either way you get a plain explanation of what the pool needs and what it will cost before any work starts.

Pool opening and closing
Best for: any Fox Valley pool that sits under a cover from October to April.
Spring and fall are the two visits that decide how the season goes. A clean opening gets the water moving and balanced before algae wakes up. A careful closing gets the water out of the lines before the first hard freeze, which is the failure that costs the most to repair in Illinois.
- Opening: cover off and cleaned, equipment reconnected, pump and filter started, water balanced
- Closing: water level lowered, lines blown out and plugged, winter chemicals added, cover secured
- Anything found at the opening gets flagged before you swim
- Spring dates fill by late March, so book early

Weekly maintenance
Best for: owners who want to swim, not test water.
A standing weekly visit through the season. The water gets tested and adjusted, the pool gets skimmed, brushed and vacuumed, the baskets get emptied, and the equipment gets a look every time. Small problems get caught while they are still small.

Heater and salt cell repair
Best for: Pentair MasterTemp and ETi heaters that will not fire, and IntelliChlor cells that read low.
Pentair is what Michael works on most: MasterTemp and ETi heaters, IntelliChlor salt cells. A heater showing ERR PS, ERR IGN or E05 on the display, a salt cell whose lights say check cell or low salt: these get diagnosed on site, and you get the repair price before the work starts.

Pool inspections
Best for: buying a house with a pool, or a pool that sat neglected for a season.
An inspection covers the shell, the liner or plaster, the plumbing, the pump, filter, heater and any salt system, and the safety items around the pool. You get a plain rundown of what works, what is worn, and what it would cost to put right, so the pool is not a surprise after closing day.
